Welcome to Anita's Kitchen Corner

Life has changed on this homefront.  I retired from my full-time job, sold my home and now live in a 40-foot fifth wheel trailer in a state park in Kansas.  My husband and I decided that we would like to spend part of our retirement years doing the workcamping thing in as many states as possible.  We started this new life in March of 2008, and so far have loved almost every minute of it.  As with everyone's life, we have had our share of problems.  It has been quite an education learning how to live in such a small space after living in a 3-bedroom house with over 2000 square feet of space.   Everything is smaller - the stove, the refrigerator, and especially the cabinet space.  Because of that, we have totally changed the way we eat even.  We are eating a lot more "no-cook" meals.

We are having a lot of fun playing tourists on the days that we are not working.  We have found Kansas to be a beautiful state - as least where we are.  Lawrence, Kansas, is in the northeast area of the state and there are lots of trees and hills.  I had only been through the western area of Kansas before this year and was very pleasantly surprised at the beauty here along with all of the extremely interesting places to see.  We have learned a lot of history here.  There is a little town about 10 miles from here where the very first battle of the Civil War was fought.  Lawrence has lots of history too, as it was a town almost completely destroyed by Quantrill's Raiders in the 1860's.  We have toured Fort Leavenworth, which is within an hours drive from where we are staying.  I've tried to take a lot of interesting photos to document our new life.  These can be viewed at another website I have set up.  To get there, follow the link:  www.workcampers2.smugmug.com

There are several galleries there to view.  I hope you enjoy the pictures.
