As the oldest daughter in a family of four children, I learned to help in the kitchen at a fairly early age.    By the time I was 12, I had learned how to cook and spent many afternoons after school in the kitchen.  My favorite thing was to bake and I loved making cakes, cookies and brownies.  I had an older brother and he always had a few of his buddies hanging around working on their cars.  I figured out pretty quickly that the reason they were always coming into the house was to see if I was baking something since they knew they would get to sample whatever I made.  Of course, that only motivated me to spend more time in the kitchen!

Of course, as I grew older, my time in the kitchen also grew and I became a pretty good cook.    I had a fairly nice variety of menus that were my own.  By the time I was in high school, I was helping in the kitchen during the week for the evening meal.  Saturday was usually my "day off".  Every other Sunday was my mom's day off and I prepared Sunday dinner by myself.  I loved doing menus and being the "Chef of the Day".

I am now learning how to live in the smaller space and am learning how to adjust my cooking to a new lifestyle.  I will add new recipes to my collection that will work very well I hope and look forward to sharing them with you.
